Who Was Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi?
Agha Syed was 82 years old at the time of his death. He was the religious scholar of Shias from the 10th February of 1984 till now. Agha Syed was born on the 12th of May, 1940, in Tharparkar, Sind, India. He was the supreme patron-in-chief of the Shia Ulama board and also the president of Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqah-e-Jafari. As per sources, the family of Agha Syed is descendants of Musa al Kadhim who was the seventh Imam of Shiites. After the passing of Mufti Jafar Hussain, Agha Syed became the president of Tehrik-e-Nafaz, Pakistan. As per reports his ancestral town is in Chakwal District of Pakistan’s Punjab Province.

Agha Syed had his early education in the Government High School of Karyala Chakwal. Agha Syed lost his father at an early age and he then moved to his hometown Chakwal. The religious education that Agha Syed got was from Maulana Ghulam Qambar Faazil which is in Lucknow. He was later transferred to Darul Uloom Muhammadiya Sargodha back in 1954 and he passed out from there in 1960, with Faazil Arabi. At Darul Uloom, the students were taught philosophy, logic, and Usool-i-Fiqh which he learned from his teacher Naseer-ul-Millat. Agha Syed introduced the 17-point Mossavi peace formula is regulated before the start of Muharram every year.
