Who is Amelia King From Virginia?

Amelia was born on July 25th, 1917 in Stepney, London. Amelia’s father, Henry King served as a firefighter in the merchant navy while her brother was in the royal navy. She used to make a living by making and selling fancy boxes before the trauma of World War II started. During the reign of World War II, Amelia volunteered to serve in the women’s land army in 1943. During her visit to the women’s land army, she faced absolute discrimination because of her skin tone. Amelia was black. She was denied the right to serve her country because her body contained a higher amount of melanin. This incident greatly violated her and her civil rights. The news came into the lame light accompanied by a similar incident that took place in the same week. Cricketer Learie Constantine was denied a hotel in London.  Amelia decided not to back out but she stood her right and this led to a riot. She stated that ‘if a black has no right to serve the nation, Then why has no one ever cast out her father and brother, she even added I’m not even a good fit to make munitions. Along with the support of the Holborn trade council, the issue was raised in the House of Commons. This led to the racism revolution in bringing the concept of the color bar into the sight of citizens. The event took place in September 1943 after her outrageous actions, she was formally permitted to serve in the women’s land army the very next month i.e., October 1943.
