Darya Safai Cuts Her Hair In Parliament Video
Darya cut her hair in the parliament and she was applauded after she followed Belgian diplomats like Hadja Lahbib and Goedele Liekens who also cut their hair strands off in the parliament. Darya took scissors with her and she was applauded by the other lawmakers as she stood up and went near the mic and cut her hair. While she is in Iran born she supported Mahsa and her sacrifice when she spoke about the issues ongoing there and in order to support she spoke about it as well. This incident occurred in response to a crackdown on the widespread protest ongoing in Iran and the whole of the country is very affected by it.
Who Was Darya Safai?
Darya was born in Tehran in 1975, she studied and grew up in Iran and she had her graduation from Tehran University where there are protest ongoing now. During her college days, Darya actively took part in the protest against the Islamic regime ongoing and which was held in 1999. Darya was even arrested in 1999 for her protest and was kept in solitary jail for 24 days while she was later released on bail. After getting released Darya went to Turkey and later on settled in Belgium. In Belgium, she met her now husband who was a leader in the student protest moments and after that, she married him, settled and began her career in Belgium.

Darya is the first woman ever to enter politics in Belgium. She started the moment called Let Iranian women Breathe where she protested against the government of Iran which she even called the rule of not attending all men’s sports. Darya entered Belgium politics in 2019 and she represented the Chamber of Representatives in Brussels. She wrote a book called Running against the wind where she wrote about her life story and about running from Iran and how faced discrimination. In 2018 she published another book called Suddenly I wasn’t allowed. Darya was awarded the women of peace award in 2016 as she fought for the rights of women.
