Kaikoura Crash Incident Details
As the police released the information, one person died in the car and truck crash while another has minor injuries in the fatal car crash. While the crash occurred near State Highway 1 north of Kaikoura, Hapuku. As the accident occurred near the highway police have asked the assistance and are seeking the public’s assistance in finding any witnesses of the accident. Police spokesperson from Kaikoura said that they are particularly interested in speaking with the witnesses and the occupants of the white van which was around that area during the crash, as it can be a bit easier in assistance and in queries as well. Police also tweeted about this issue on their Twitter account.

As police released a Tweet regarding the fatalities and the car crash, they also released information about the enclosure of the road as there are investigations held at the accident site. Police asked the motorist to avoid the area as much as possible as the road is closed. Also, the police asked the drivers to remain calm as the work is still undergoing until the road is cleared completely. It was given that roads between Seaward valley road and Kiwa road are closed and will remain closed for several hours, while motorists were asked to avoid the road as there is no diversion or different lane available right now. While travellers to the Southbound moving from Picton to Christchurch are advised to divert or detour via SH6 from Blenheim to Waipara via SH6, SH 65, SH 63, SH7, and SH 1.

Also, the Tweet mentioned that if there are any witnesses other than the white van, they are required to call the police for providing the information, as any information regarding the truck, the car, or anything that would be assisting will be greatly appreciated. At the moment there is no information given about the truck or the truck driver involved in the accident as the investigations are ongoing and police are majorly focused on witnesses and investigating the fatalities as well, while enclosed roads are being reported.
